For eight years the Geneva Film Festival has shown films from around the globe, in 2015 displaying more than 90 films in a variety of categories. It is an event held annually to celebrate and showcase independent cinema. Films submitted to the festival hail from over 20 countries, including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Spain, Ireland, Germany and India.  Since its inception the festival has grown in popularity and status in the independent film festival community.  It also serves as a stepping stone to success for filmmakers, and features workshops with industry professionals who provide educational opportunities for filmmakers and film enthusiasts alike.

During the summer months the Geneva Park District shows a wide selection of movies suitable for both adults and youngsters in several of the parks in its region. It is a popular addition to the entertainment available in the greater Geneva area.
